The Greenhouse is a restaurant, events venue and gathering place at the heart of the local community. Located within Downham Home & Garden, we offer far more than a traditional garden centre dining experience, welcoming guests throughout the day for freshly prepared food, artisan coffee, homemade cakes, afternoon tea and seasonal menus.
Alongside our restaurant, we host a variety of events throughout the year, including character breakfasts, tribute evenings, quiz nights and private celebrations. Our flexible venue is also available for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, corporate events and other special occasions, with bespoke catering options available from our in-house team.

Our history
The Gardeners Rest was established, initially serving coffee, homemade cakes and freshly baked pastries. Starting from a small kitchen area, it quickly became a popular stop for visitors, with favourites including Victoria Sponge, Coffee & Walnut and Chocolate Cake.
As demand continued to grow, The Gardeners Rest expanded its menu and dining facilities. The kitchen and seating areas were developed, allowing the introduction of hot meals, including fish and chips, jacket potatoes and traditional Sunday lunches.
The Greenhouse Restaurant opened, marking an exciting new chapter in our journey. Designed as a spacious and welcoming restaurant, it allowed us to expand our offering and create the dining experience guests enjoy today. With freshly prepared food, locally sourced ingredients and daily specials, The Greenhouse has become much more than a place to eat, hosting celebrations, events and special occasions throughout the year.
